Bodegas El Inicio was established in 2013 by three friends, Alfonso, Luis and Angel Luis; all of whom had previously worked for a large Ribera winery. They wanted to make their own wines, focusing on quality and elegance. Bodegas El Inicio is based in Peñafiel. The grapes are harvested from 65 hectares of Tempranillo vines around the village of Fuentecén, all managed by small scale viticulturalists.

The winery is planning to plant 32 hectares of their own vines in 2021. The winemaking team is led by Technical Director and founding partner, Ángel Luis Margüello. Bodegas El Inicio’s premium wine is the Admiración Selección Especial, vinified from old vines grown in premium sites. The wine is only made in excellent harvest years and undergoes long oak ageing in new French barrels.
