Bodegas y Viñedos Valtravieso was founded in 1994, and is owned by Gonzalez Beteré family. The winery and its vineyards sit at an altitude of 915m in Piñel de Arriba. It has 60 hectares of own vineyards, with three different varieties planted: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The vines grow on clay-limestone soils, and the winery aims to make terroir-driven wines that capture Ribera’s personality. The winemaking team is led by Ricardo Velasco, a young Spanish young  oenologist who trained in Bordeaux and Argentina, and worked for several years at Vieux Télégraphe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
