Bodegas Ismael Arroyo was founded in 1979 by the Ismael Arroyo family. The winery is situated in Sotillo de la Ribera and owns 25 hectares of Tempranillo vines. The winery also buys some grapes from farmers they’ve been working with for many years. The Tempranillo bush vines are planted on a combination of clay, limestone and gravelly soils. The average age of the vines is 40 years old but some are as old as 80. 

The grapes are always hand harvested and the philosophy of the winery is to work in an artisanal way. The vines are not irrigated, and no fertilisers or herbicides are used in the farming process. The wines are always spontaneously fermented in the cellar. The winemaking team is led by M. Angel Arroyo.
